How we research and test

Every card program page is built from primary sources. Fees come from the issuer's prepaid account agreement filed with the CFPB (refreshed nightly by the Bureau) or, for deposit-account products, from a dated snapshot of the official pricing page. FDIC coverage is verified against BankFind by certificate number — active status required. Complaint counts come from the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database, filtered by exact company name. Each page lists its sources and shows a change log: when an issuer files a new agreement or edits its pricing page, the change is detected and dated. Evidence is graded: cfpb-agreement > official-pricing-snapshot > press-release > third-party.
